Tornadoes

Tornadoes were reported last night in Texas, Oklahoma and other states. Being a veteran of several tornadoes, I know the fear that those people feel. The day after a tornado, you feel so numb. It is hard to believe the devastation they do.

Now, when I hear heavy wind, I find a safe place to go. It is unbelievable how you feel after you have experienced something like this. Luckily, our house withstood the wind, but we lost two barns. After the tornado passed, I looked out the bedroom window where our children's swing set was, and it was completely still. No movement at all. That was so strange. Someone later told us that our house and swing set must have been in the eye or center of the tornado. I did feel a lot of pressure, like the sides of the house were going to come in. It was a horrible feeling and I have experienced it since then.

My daughter has asked me not to come see her during the tornado season. I was visiting her on two occasions in two different cities when they had tornadoes. When you add the one we had when she was growing up, I am sure she feels I bring them.

My heart goes out to the families of the three who were killed in these storms. We cannot replace a life, but we can replace possessions. I know a lot lost their homes and all in them. That would be so hard for me and I know it is for others. We just need to be thankful we still have our life. Be safe during this day that looks stormy.
