Friday the 13th.
We made it home early yesterday morning. Jerry and I had a wonderful time in the mountains. It was so beautiful. We enjoyed to solitude and renewed our spirits. God has blessed us with so many beautiful surroundings.
Yesterday, I also had a full day of shopping. My freezer needed to be restocked. I always like to keep food that can be thawed in a short while. We are trying to eat more healthy and exercise more. It is hard to go through the grocery store and see all the food that is good, but not good for you. It is so tempting to grab a box of donuts instead of something with less carbs and sugar. I am not much of a fruit eater, but I am trying to gear my mind in that direction.
In our media, there is much discussion about "freedom of speech." When our fore fathers wrote the Constitution, the freedom of speech they were talking about was not to see how many dirty words and filthy language we could use. Today, that seems to be what so many people want to do, see how far they can go. What happened to clean speech? Personally, I do not care to have my mind infiltrated with filthy language. As I told a boss one day, "I do not use it, my family does not use it and I have no friends that use filthy language and I do not appreciate it. If it continues, I will walk out." Needless to say, that boss never said another off hand word to me.
I can remember the first "dirty" word in a movie was in "Gone With the Wind." The whole world was shocked when Rhett Butler said, "Personally, Scarlett, I don't give a ......." Now that word is used by children and adults alike, and we don't think a thing about it. You pick up a book and most of them are filled with filthy language. Someone told me they just skipped over those words, but I would rather not even own the book. I will not buy a book, newspaper, magazine or movie that is filled with such filth. That's all it is, filth.
Each time I see a book that I think might be interesting, I look first at the publisher. There are several publishers who publish clean novels. My favorite are Barbour Publishing, Heartsong Presents and Bethany House. These are clean publishing houses.
When you glance through the books of different publishers, you will most always skip the offensive words. I know these publishers, mentioned above, do not allow this language. If I am going to spend money purchasing these books, I am going to make sure I have a book that I will not be embarrassed to read it in public.
Our words are something, I feel, we should watch. When you hear so many unclean words, then we begin to feel they are all right to use. We need to watch our words.
