Friends

Isn't it amazing, as we go through life, how our circle of friend enlarges? Personally, I am amazed at the number of new friends that I am privileged to enjoy.

There are two things that I enjoy in life, besides family and church. That is reading and writing. My family has a funny idea that they need clean clothes, food and a somewhat clean house. When I am reading or writing, I don't have time for these mundane things. They are learning that when I read or write, most things go on the back burner.

Not long ago, I had gotten into a writing spurge and was writing furiously, when I heard my mother say, "Are we going to eat lunch?" She likes to eat at 11 or 11:30 each day. No later than 11:30 anytime. Well, it was after 12 and I was just typing away. You know, when you get into a really good spot and don't want to stop, well I was there. Everything was going so fast and I was getting so much done, that I really didn't want to stop, but I do have to feed her. When you go back to the computer after that, most of your thoughts are lost, or at least mine are.

Since I started to try to write, there have been several new friends who have entered my life. So many times, we forget to thank these wonderful people. The first writer to enter my life was Wilburta Arrowood. Wilburta has written a book, "For the Love of a Child." It is published by Publishers by Design. Wilburta spent the night with us in the fall and spoke at our Ladies Day at church. Our family got to know her and her husband, Jim, and really enjoyed their visit. Right now, Wilburta and another promising author are critiquing my manuscript. When Wilburta sends it back, it is a rainbow of colors. What she is doing for me is much appreciated. Recently, I met Christine Lynxwiler through a group on the Internet. I have read her books, "Arkansas" and "Promise Me Always." Both are outstanding books, as is Wilburta's. Chris has encouraged me so much and I do appreciate her friendship.

If we had no friends, the world would be flat. Friends are what makes the mountains, valleys, flowers and storms in our life. How can people live without them? I can't, I have to have friends. Tell your friends "Hello" today.
