The Life of a Wanna Be Writer

I, Kathy Cretsinger, do hereby declare and affirm that I am a "Wanna Be Writer." Definition of a "Wanna Be Writer" is not found in the dictionary, but I have my own definition. It is someone who is striving with all their might to be a writer. Someone who wants it will all their heart. They also put their heart in their writing each day.

Okay, how am I doing? Sometimes good and sometime not so good. I've changed my novel several times. Right now I feel very good about the way it is going. It is evolving into a nice suspenseful story. It may change again in the future, but right now I am satisfied about it.

One author told me to read all the books that I could that were published by the publishing house that I want to sell my book to. Looking at the guide lines from several publishers, I have found one that has the same views as I do. Then, I decided that I needed to read books from other publishers. Right now, I am reading one by a different publishing house, and I cannot sink my teeth into it. It doesn't stir me like the other ones do. I could put that book down, and pick it up in a few months, but I won't. I am determined to read all of that book before I start another one. There are three more books in my stack to read and they are all by different publishing houses.

My goal is to write each day. If I can sit down at the computer each day, I am more motivated to write. Yesterday, I finished one chapter, and I am ready to start another chapter today. My goal is to finish it by tomorrow. It all depends on how things are going here at home.

When I read a blog or web page from another author, I always gain something from what they say. Some authors write a complete outline of each chapter and some write by the seat of their pants. I have tried the seat of the pants writing and now I realize I am more of an outline person. That way, I know where I am going and it is not just in my head. I am not that organized, usually. Does it count that I make a list of chores to be done each day? I guess I am more organized than I thought I was.

So today, I am going to write, hopefully, one thousand words. I hope I can write more. Am I having fun? Yes I am and that is the what a "Wanna Be Writer" strives for.
