Good to be Home

Last week I was away from home. For sometime I had wanted to spend a week with my grandchildren and finally I had the time. I feel refreshed and ready to work, at lease I will when I am more rested.

For a couple of weeks, I have had a difficult time working on my novel. My brain seemed empty and I knew to continue I would have to take a little time off. It's just like in any job, you can be overworked. That's exactly how I felt.

Last Sunday after church, I headed for Nashville, TN, first to spend the night with my daughter, pick up my oldest granddaughter, and head for Western Kentucky on Monday to visit my three youngest grandchildren. We went to ballgames, swim lessons, the library and had a picnic. That was just one day. It was busy, but I enjoyed time spent with my family.

On the way back home Saturday,in week-end traffic, I was thinking how I could give my characters more life. Somewhere between Nashville and Crossville, TN, it hit me. Now I have a new beginning to my novel that will give my heroine more life. She will be up and moving and acting like a real girl. It was worth the trip to get that in my head.

Traveling alone is a great time to think. I have always come up with the best ideas when I am driving. In my mind, I also worked on some lessons to write for ladies days that we have at church. I spoke at one in May and enjoyed the experience so much. My friend and I now have three to get definite dates on. I worked on those in my head, getting my thoughts straight on how to go about getting scripture and an outline. So, my traveling was a success.

I hope each of you have a good day. I have plenty of work to do today and words to get down on paper or on the computer. Relax and enjoy what God has given you.
