Diets
For several weeks I have been watching people that they show on television and have seen how overweight we in America are. I look at myself and I am no longer that little 102 person I used to be. I blame mine on having babies, but my last baby was born 38 years ago, so I don't think I still have that baby fat.
I think how we have been blessed to have good jobs and to be able to buy good food. Recently my husband has had to watch his colesterol and we have been more conscious of what we put in our mouths and how much. We are both heading toward diabetis, so we are trying to watch our sugar intake. Since we are both sweet lovers, it is so hard. I love to bake and we both love to eat.
My neighbor, who is originally from Florida, was visiting me the other afternoon and the conversation turned to fresh fish and different sea food restaurants. I made the statement that I am allergic to shell fish either fresh or cooked. (I cannot have raw shellfish in the house.) I began thinking, that is another thing I love but I cannot have. I know there is a purpose in all this for me, but so far I have not figured it out. So far I cannot have shellfish, sugar, fats or carbs. What else is there to eat? I am so glad that I like vegetables, but there are carbs in some of them.
We are a family of corn eaters. The first thing my grandchildren want to know when they come to our house is "when are we going to have corn." My oldest granddaughter was with her mother in Savannah, GA. They ate lunch at Paula Deen's restaurant, The Lady and Sons. There was corn on the lunch bar and of course granddaughter got some. When she took a bite, she told her mom that Paula Deen made corn just like Grandma.
A friend of mine sent this quote to my weight group. "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst, for they are sticking to their diets."- Troy Gordon That just about says it all. I must not be sticking very well.
Have a wonderful day.

I am so glad to find your blog!! A good friend was just commenting yesterday that she needed to lose weight. I told that she had just had a baby and she replied that it had been a year and how long can we use that excuse? I told her as long as we want! :)
