After Memorial Day
I lived through Memorial Day week-end! With eight extra people in our house, a covered dish dinner at church and just trying to keep my senses, it turned out to be a good week-end.
We have a grandson, Grayson, who is the youngest of the kids, and he is a cracker-jack. He came into the house calling his granddad, "John." After that, every man was John and I was "Jo-Jo." I have no idea where he came up with Jo-Jo. We figured out the John part, but not the Jo-Jo. Anyway, he called me something. He keeps us laughing and I enjoy him so much at this age. Three is a wonderful age.
The other grandchildren are as much fun and we did enjoy them. We had a big birthday party for all the grandchildren. They were all born from May 30 to July 8, so when they come Memorial Day, we just have one party here. Memorial Day and New Year's is the only time we know everyone will be together.
Our oldest granddaughter will be here tonight to spend a week or so with us. She is almost eleven and we are all looking forward to having her with us. Her favorite food is Angel Food Cake.
After all this about my family, I need to bring you up to date on my writing. I am improving, I think. Not so many colors on my last critique. That's a good sign. I am on the sixth chapter of my re-written novel. I had been up to about Chapter 19, when I decided to redo it. It is much better this time. I am starting another workshop June 1. Every workshop or conference call helps me so much. We all stay younger when we are willing to learn.
We need rain here in Eastern Tennessee. It looks like we may have some soon. I hope so, our garden is getting dry. I have wonderful asparagus, which I roast, but it is about gone due to the dry weather. We have watered it some and it helped. Turn your oven to 425 degrees, take your asparagus and sprinkle olive oil on it. I like to make sure it is has a little EVOO on all spears. Lay them out in a single layer, sprinkle with Lemon Pepper and place in oven for 15-20 minutes. Take out, sprinkle with Mozzarella or Parmesan Cheese. Serve immediately.
Have a wonderful day!
