Memorial Day

I hadn't realized it had been so long since I wrote. It has been busy, starting with the day my husband had his colonscopy. Let me try to explain.

My cousin from Indiana arrived on Sunday, the thirteenth, and left yesterday. I really enjoyed having her. She had a liver transplant two and a half years ago and since then, we have become very close. It was good to have her with us. We shopped one day. Our renter came up and stayed with Mother and Carolyn and I had a whole day to shop until we dropped, and we did. Since my energy level is still not at full speed, I did drop for two days. It was a wonderful experience.

Carolyn is a size four or six, which makes me sick. I'm still in fourteens, and when we were teenagers, we couldn't gain weight. She takes better care of herself than I do. She did gain two pounds while she was here, and if she had stayed longer, I could have really fattened her up more. She will be back in June, and I'll have another chance.

My mother is gradually getting weaker, the doctor always asks me if I feed her well. We have had some tests run and right now I don't have the results. I can tell a big difference in her right now. It's sad to see her like this. I'm taking one day at a time and praying more. I want her to be comfortable and loved. Isn't that what we all want?

Our two children, spouses, and grandchildren will be here on Saturday. That will be eight more people in our house. Every spare bed will be spoken for and there may be some on the floor. The grandkids usually like to sleep on the living room floor. It's going to be a fun time and we'll enjoy having them. I remember one preacher saying he loved to see the headlights come and the taillights go. That's about right. We always sit down after they leave and say, "Listen, do you hear the silence?" We look forward to having a lot of hugs and kisses. So far we still have some that don't think they're too big for that.

Hoping all of you have a wonderful Memorial Day. Be careful while driving.
