Our R & R Trip
Last week my hubby and I took a much needed trip to Cumberland Falls State Park in Corbin, KY. It was so nice to get to spend a couple of days with my dear hubby. We had so much fun and enjoyed the resort so much. This is one of our favorite state park resorts.
When we registered, we were given a nice brochure of the park. The front cover was a beautiful water falls and it was only 1.5 miles to the falls and the same back. Okay, we could make that. We're not that old, so off we go. It was a nice hike, and I do mean hike. My nephew does "hill walking" in Scotland. He would have enjoyed walking this "hill." We thought it would be just gradual climbs up and down. Oh, how wrong we were! We climbed up hills or mountains, don't know which, up and down steps and rocks and at the end boulders.
When we came around the last boulder, my husband said, "I think a six inch pipe would work." I looked up at the trickle coming over the rock and said, "Is this all there is?" This area has not had any rain for a while, so the water level is very low. My daughter told me it was a lot bigger than that when she saw it. Oh, well, we will have to go back after we've had some rain.
We met some nice people on the trail. A couple from Chicago and two couples from the area. They were so nice to talk to and we enjoyed meeting them. There are still good people out there.
The rest was wonderful. As I have stated before, I care for my mother who is ninety and not in good health. Her mind is slowing going and now she cannot remember from morning until night. That is so sad because she was such an active woman. If you know of someone who cares for their parent or loved one, volunteer to give them some time off, if you can. One friend told me that he did not realize how much sleep he had lost until his wife went to the nursing home. That is true. I did not realize how much sleep I had lost until last week. If you are a caregiver, you understand what I am saying. It is a hard, stressful job. I don't regret it, I would just like to be able to take a little more time off. I am so fortunate that God has let my mother live for ninety years and that He has let me live to take care of her.
