"Bride so Fair"
Recently I finished reading "Bride so Fair" by Carol Cox. I became so excited to get to the end of the book. Let me tell you a little about it.
The setting is the Chicago Worlds Fair in 1893 and it is very descriptive of the time. I feel Carol put a lot of research into the story.
Anyway, here goes. Emily Ralston is an orphan who works at the fair in the Children's Building. (I think I worked for her employer somewhere. Mean woman.) There is a murder of a mysterious woman and a child whose parents never show up to get him.
Emily becomes involved with the little boy and a handsome Columbian Guard. The little boy steals your heart from the beginning. There is intrigue, mystery and a wonderful love story. A story that brings hope to all of us.
Personally, I love a mystery and a historical. This book combined both of them. I enjoyed reading it very much and look forward to more of Carol's books. Thanks Carol for a great read.
