How Does It Feel to Finish Your First Book?
Last Wednesday, I ran through the house saying, "Ya-hoo! Ya-hoo!" My first endeavor to write a novel was finished on my part. Now comes the critiquing and the pitching. I am excited that I finished it.
The book, Callie's Mountain, is a historical book. It will be a series of four books and will go both frontward and backwards in history. That is all I will say about it, except it is love gained, loved lost and love coming again. How is that for a one line?
There is much research in this book and the three to follow. I love history and I live in a very historical place. Davy Crockett's grandfather was one of the first settlers in 1775. He was killed by the Indians and is buried here in town. So, the town is very old and quaint.
Writers are supposed to start writing with something they are familiar with. I have an abundance of historical information within a few miles of my house. A lot of historical records are preserved and I can go back to get a lot of research.
